Dr. Mitler is a Board Certified Forensic Examiner and expert in sleep and fatigue research. He received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, in 1967, an M.A. in 1968 and a Ph.D. in 1970 from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. He also received a three-year postdoctoral certificate in Sleep Research from Stanford University Medical School in Palo Alto, California, in 1973. From 1976 – 1977, he trained in Sleep Medicine at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. In 1989 he received training in Traffic Accident Investigation from Miramar College, San Diego Law Enforcement Training Center, San Diego, California.
